Who We Are
Our Mission & Vision
Our mission is to be…
“A beacon on a hill, serving God and community, mind, body and spirit.”
Our Church History
In the 1860’s, people came to this laurel covered hill in covered wagons seeking a place to worship God. Here they built brush arbors and held their first camp meetings. On March 9, 1872, Levi Sain and Johnny Bivens deeded six acres of land to Laurel Hill Camp Group Congregation which built a log building, the first church.
Sometime later, a small frame church replaced the log building. In 1893, a still larger frame church was built and the small one was used for a schoolhouse until 1925.
In 1953, the current church was built. Laurel Hill was a Methodist Protestant Church until merging with the Methodist Church in 1939. In 1968, the Methodist church joined with the Evangelical United Brethren Church to form the United Methodist Church.
We are proud to be a part of the United Methodist Church.
